Proposal talk with Jonny D!

Planning on giving your partner something sweeter than the usual box of chocolates and flowers this Valentine's Day? Well, how about a proposal? We so often hear about the proposal from the Bride-to-be's (if she says yes of course) point of view. This year we thought we would switch it up and see what it is like from the guy's point of view to propose.

We were lucky enough to catch a quick minute with the man of love himself Wedding Photographer and all round funny guy, Jonny Draper from Jonny Draper Photography to see how he proposed to his now wife Emma! Tissues at the ready ladies!

I proposed 10 years ago this year...I had it all planned out, a romantic trip to Paris and a proposal outside the Sacre Coeur in Montmatre - the best view of the city in my humble opinion as you can actually see the Eiffel Tower and the whole city scape.  We'd been the year before and it was a firm favourite of ours, so that's where I decided.

I'd asked Emma's Mum and Dad's permission and of course had then filled them in on my plans, where I was going to propose and on what day.  I'd also told my Mum and Dad too, so there were expectations of a celebratory phone call on the third day of our trip...

When we set off that's when I realised what a nightmare carrying an engagement ring through security at an airport is!!!  The worry of being asked to empty your pockets, have your bag searched and have the whole secret plan blown wide open was terrifying - I REALLY didn't want to have to propose in Manchester airport!  As it happens, we got through with no issues, but then the ring was quickly burning a hole in my pocket.  I didn't want to leave it in the safe in our hotel room, I didn't want to carry it round with me, so I brought the planned proposal forward by a day, just to get the ring out of my possession!

Emma said yes, we were married a year and a day later and we've never had a crossed word since.... ;)

How lovely and so sweet! Thanks Jonny for sharing your proposal story with us! Jonny has photographed weddings at our beautiful Eaves Hall and Mitton Hall before. Take a look at the beautiful images! Oh and happy 10 years Jonny and Emma!
